Dear University family:
Yesterday the Presidential Search Advisory Committee met for almost five
hours distilling the list of candidates for the position of President of
Texas A&M - Commerce. Methodically we selected eight potential candidates
and two potential alternates to issue invitations for an off-campus
interview.
Early next month the committee will spend two days off campus, interviewing
candidates with the intention of recommending to the Chancellor two to three
names of individuals that the Committee feels could lead this university to
the future.
The Committee is most pleased with the quality and quantity of applicants
that we received. Among the eight finalists are sitting Presidents,
Executive Vice Presidents and Provosts. Confidentiality remains a must in
this process to protect these individuals. Wish us luck as we proceed with
this most important process.
Until the Board of Regents issues the name(s) of finalists to be invited to
campus for interviews in late-March and early April, no public knowledge of
applicants will be available. By mid- to late-April we should have the name
of our new President.
The Committee remains dedicated to finding the best person available to lead
our university.
