Faculty, Staff, and Students--

You are hereby invited to our Celebration of Student Writing, the
culmination of our Summer II, English 102 class.

When? Thursday, August 9, 2007, from 9:15-10:30

Where? Lobby, Hall of Languages

Refreshments will be served.

I am so excited about this group. For the most part, this class is comprised
of upperclassmen and non-traditionals who have wholeheartedly embraced the
idea of ethnography. Excited and engaged with their subjects and their
sites, ranging from a local business that donates most of its sales to the
support of the victims of family violence, a local newspaper, the
A&M-Commerce gridiron, the Industrial Technology building, Campus Synergy
Lab, local hospitals, clinics, and businesses (Morning Star), a Dallas law
firm, and a Deep Ellum art gallery, this group will wow you with their
dedication to their sites, their enthusiasm for their projects, and the
knowledge they have gathered and organized to present for this occasion.

I encourage faculty, staff, and students to turn out in support of these
wonderful authors. I know that their work will be exemplary and want to
share their excellence with the entire campus.

Thank you,
Jonne Akens
Instructor of English
Department of Literature and Languages

---
And thank you for your continued support! As this event will be smaller than
our spring CSW (13 researchers as opposed to 240), you will have more time
to spend with each writer. We hope you will be able to join us, stop by each
author's table, and ask her a little about her project (how she got into it,
what she got out of it). What you hear will impress you. In fact, the
students involved with this CSW offer yet another reason to be proud of
A&M-Commerce.
