[Vpaaetal] Faculty Welcome

[vpaaetal@TAMU-Commerce.edu]

Colleagues,
I am Sherion Jackson, President of the Faculty Senate and a faculty
member of the Educational Administration Department in the College of
Education and Human Services. I would like to welcome you, on behalf of the
Faculty Senate, to another exciting year at Texas A&M University-Commerce.
The Faculty Senate is a university-wide faculty organizational unit
consisting of one member elected by each academic department of the
university and one professional librarian. These representative members are
an important part of the university in that they provide a resource for the
administration, a communication path for faculty members, and a voice for
the entire university faculty. Our Mission is "The Faculty Senate represents
the faculty and professional librarians of Texas A&M University-Commerce by
studying and investigating matters of concern and recommending constructive
changes to the president of the university". Within the Faculty Senate,
there are committees which investigate and report on matters of interest or
concern for university faculty; I would like to invite you to serve on one
of these committees. You can find more information about the Faculty Senate
and the work we do each year by reviewing our website at
http://www.tamu-commerce.edu/facultysenate. Also, please feel free to email
me at Sherion_Jackson at TAMU-Commerce.edu (or contact your designated
department's representative) with comments or concerns.

Again, welcome and have a good year.
