[Vpaaetal] WebCT Vista

[vpaaetal@TAMU-Commerce.edu]

Colleagues:

The Texas A&M University System is considering the purchase of WebCT Vista
(an academic enterprise online course management system) and we have been
asked if we want to participate in this initiative. This is a critical
issue for our institution and one which requires broad-based input from
faculty and students. Many of you have invested time and energy in
preparing online and web-supported courses using Educator, and the input I
have received is that most of you are pleased with this system. Therefore,
I have asked the academic and student affairs technology committee, chaired
by Sue Espinoza, to analyze the proposal, solicit input from all
stakeholders, and provide me with a recommendation by October 11th.

To facilitate the process, we have posted the proposal online for your
review. To access the proposal, please go to
http://www7.tamu-commerce.edu/itde/webct-proposal/index.asp
<http://www7.tamu-commerce.edu/itde/webct-proposal/index.asp> and use
"webct" as the user ID and "proposal" as the password.

Because we value your input, a discussion board has been made available at
http://www.quicktopic.com/27/H/CHemmBMT4ZdB
<http://www.quicktopic.com/27/H/CHemmBMT4ZdB> . Please post your comments
on this site.

Finally, a meeting has been scheduled for Thursday, September 30th, from
1:00-3:00 in Education South 104. Representatives from both WebCT and
Educator will be present.

Again, I would like to emphasize how important your input is to this
process.

Thank you,

Joyce
