[Tx-speed] SPEEDE/EDI Workshop Meeting

I wanted to announce that registration is now open for the Annual SPEEDE/EDI Meeting.


The 2009 TACRAO Summer SPEEDE/EDI Workshop will be held in Austin on June 10, 2009 starting at 9:00 a.m.  This year's meeting is being done in conjunction with the ApplyTexas User Group Meeting, which will be on June 11, 2009.  Both meetings will be held at The Commons.  The SPEEDE/EDI Workshop will include a continental breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack.

Register separately for each conference:  If you would like to attend both the SPEEDE Conference and the ApplyTexas Conference, please note that you must register separately for each conference. You may register for the SPEEDE Conference at http://www.tacrao.org/. You may register for the ApplyTexas Conference at http://www.thecb.state.tx.us/events/ApplyTexas/.  The registration fee for the SPEEDE conference is $40. The registration fee for the ApplyTexas conference is $35. If you attend both conferences, the price is $75. Please pay separately for each conference at the websites listed.

Registration fee must be received by June 8, 2009.

Book your hotel early!  Several conferences are being held in Austin the same week, so book your hotel as soon as possible! For your convenience, we have reserved a block of rooms at the new Fairfield Inn & Suites Austin North/Parmer Lane<http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/auspl-fairfield-inn-and-suites-austin-north-parmer-lane/> for the nights of June 9 and 10. They will honor the state rate of $85 a night. You may tell them you are with the SPEEDE Conference or the ApplyTexas Conference. Call the hotel to reserve your room no later than the end of the day on Tuesday, May 26.

 It is 4.5 miles from the Fairfield to the Commons Conference Center. There is no free shuttle, but taxis are available if you need one.

 Some of the hotels on the list, such as the Renaissance Austin and the Hampton Inn Austin-NW Arboretum are booked for the conference of TEPSA (Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association) and are full or cannot offer the state rate of $85.

Ask for the state rate of $85. Most places have a limited number of rooms at this rate for that night, so book ASAP!
