Good afternoon:
Just a quick reminder on this 1st day of classes to make sure you have the annual CCAS meeting on your calendar for the last week in October. As detailed in the attachment and note below, we will be holding a reorganizational meeting of TADLAS on October 31st in Seattle.
We are also trying to get an unofficial headcount, so if you think you can join us, please drop me a line.
See you soon!

2012 Reorganizational Meeting
Texas Association of Deans of Liberal Arts & Sciences:
Please join us for a critical planning meeting of our Texas Association of Deans of Liberal Arts and Sciences (TADLAS)!
When:
October 31, 2012 3:00 p.m.
Where:
Annual Conference of the Council of Colleges of Arts and Sciences (CCAS)
Seattle, Washington, Seattle Sheraton Hotel
As you recall, our February 2011 TADLAS annual conference was cancelled. Since many of us routinely attend the Council of Colleges of Arts and Sciences (CCAS) conference, we decided to schedule a reorganizational meeting for TADLAS at the 2012 CCAS annual conference in Seattle, WA. at 3:00 PM on October 31, 2012.
Because we did not have a conference in 2011, we need to fill our leadership positions in the association and regain the momentum from our 2010 meeting in San Angelo. We are hopeful that many of you will make the effort to attend CCAS and be there for our TADLAS meeting during the pre-conference day. It is important that we have strong representation to set goals and make plans for a substantive annual meeting in 2013. This is a critical time for higher education in Texas, perhaps especially for us in the liberal arts and sciences.
Please check the CCAS website<http://www.cas.net> for information about the 2012 conference. The TADLAS meeting is simply one of the many meetings that you may attend as part of the conference, and there will be no charge beyond that of your CCAS registration fee. We are working to get this information on the TADLAS website<http://www.tadlas.org> before too much longer.
Finally, we would appreciate your letting us know at your earliest convenience if you will be attending the TADLAS meeting.
We very much hope to see you in Seattle on October 31st!
Best regards,
Grady Price Blount, Dean of Science, Engineering & Agriculture, Texas A&M - Commerce
Dennis Kratz, Dean of Arts & Humanities, University of Texas at Dallas
Lee Nordt, Dean of Arts & Sciences, Baylor University
Ann Staton, Dean of Arts & Sciences, Texas Woman’s University
