Assistant Director of Recruiting
Admissions and Recruiting
McNeese State University invites qualified applicants and nominations for the position of Assistant Director of Recruiting in the Department of Admissions and Recruiting. This is a full-time, 12-month, unclassified, position. The appointment begins January 2, 2019.
Position Description and Responsibilities:

  *   Manage the day-to-day recruiting operations of the Office of Admissions and Recruiting.
  *   Mentor, supervise, and train admissions counselors and student employees.
  *   Work closely with University staff to maintain the University’s CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system.
  *   Maintain and ensure the accuracy and consistency of data in the CRM.
  *   Assist the director with the scheduling of recruiting visits and the development and implementation of follow-up recruiting activities.
  *   Gather and analyze recruitment and enrollment data and collaborate with the director to develop recruitment targets and formulate short- and long-term strategies to increase enrollment.
  *   Monetize recruitment activities by calculating and inputting expense data into the CRM.
  *   Collaborate with the director, the University’s marketing director, and other staff to create web-based and hard-copy recruiting and publication materials.
  *   Collaborate with the director and assistant director of admissions to develop, implement, and maintain communication plans for prospective students and applicants (including email and texting campaigns).
  *   Supervise the campus tour guide program, by hiring, supervising, training, and scheduling student employees; creating and revising a tour guide manual; and managing the campus tour events in the CRM.
  *   Effectively use and maintain current knowledge of Banner, CRM, BDM, Mongoose, Argos, and other systems used by the University.
  *   Maintain knowledge of how to enter prospect and applicant data into Banner, process applications, and scan and index documents in BDM.
  *   Work collaboratively with the director in the planning and organizing of preview days, high school counselor conferences, and other special events hosted by the office.
  *   Maintain and ensure the accuracy of the content on the McNeese admissions webpages in regards to campus visits, the virtual tour, and campus/community events.
  *   Monitor supplies and equipment to ensure functionality and adequate levels are maintained, complete inventory reports for the department, request transfer of property, and request servicing of equipment.
  *   Build and maintain mutually beneficial working relationships with high school counselors, counterparts at other universities, and University faculty and staff.
  *   Ensure recruiting staff and student workers maintain current and accurate knowledge of policies and procedures related to admissions, orientation, transfer credit processes, scholarships, TOPS, financial aid, student services, residence halls, academic programs, athletics, student organizations, etc.
  *   In the absence of the Assistant Director of Admissions, manage the day-to-day admissions operations.
  *   Assist the director in preparing the departmental budget and monitoring expenditures.
  *   Assist and counsel prospective students and their families in person, over the phone, and via email regarding admissions standards, scholarships, financial aid, housing, etc.
  *   Provide input on University and departmental policies and procedures as requested by the director.
  *   When needed, represent McNeese at college fairs and community events. Minimal local and overnight travel may be required.
  *   Serve on campus and community committees as assigned.
  *   Complete all other duties as assigned by the director or associate vice president for enrollment management.


  *   Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution
  *   Results-driven, strong customer focus, and commitment to collaborative teamwork
  *   Outstanding judgment and keen understanding of the motivations and needs of others
  *   High level of energy, enthusiasm, and motivation
  *   Persuasive communication and presentation skills
  *   Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks with competing priorities and deadlines
  *   Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality
  *   Meticulous attention to detail
  *   Advanced expertise in Excel, spreadsheets, and database applications
  *   Ability to produce positive results from internal and external constituents
  *   Ability to effectively motivate, manage, and supervise employees and student workers
  *   Ability to interpret and analyze data
  *   Effective written and oral communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  *   Ability to lift 30 pounds on a regular basis
  *   Valid driver’s license and excellent driving record


  *   Experience managing and/or using a CRM
  *   Experience in admissions, recruiting, or enrollment management at an institution of higher education
  *   Experience with Ellucian Banner and BDM and Campus Management Radius CRM
  *   Experience supervising staff
