$60,744+ per year
Duties and Responsibilities

*         Produce, validate, and submit all state mandated reports to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) and the Legislative Budget Board (LBB).

*         Work with appropriate functional leads and programmers to identify and resolve data integrity issues

*         Assist with mapping new and existing file definitions for THECB file submissions to existing database data.

*         Assist with testing and implementing software/database enhancements, upgrades, and new releases required for state reports.

*         Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the THECB/LBB reporting manuals, requirements, and pertinent legislation.

*         Retrieve and analyze edit reports received from the THECB and communicate findings to the appropriate administrative or functional area.

*         Uses Oracle tools and other software to gather data from the SIS system to generate information for crosschecking data accuracy.

*         Communicates with the state agencies regarding reporting standards, submission of files, and file layout changes for the state reports.

*         Document processes for reporting.

*         Produce reports for both standard and ad hoc data requests.

*         Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Required: Applicants must have experience using SQL and relational databases; Microsoft Office software skills; and strong quantitative and analytical skills. Applicants must demonstrate knowledge of both state and federal higher education reporting requirements. Good communication skills are required for collaboratively working with diverse clients, members of teams, co-workers, and contacts for research and networking purposes. This position requires an extreme attention to details and timelines. Applicants must demonstrate the ability to trouble shoot and resolve data issues; and they should also be able to interpret instructions, read journals and technical publications, proofread, write reports, document processes, prioritize work and meet deadlines.
Preferred: Applicants demonstrating working knowledge of Banner or other student information systems, Tableau or other reporting software, and database design are preferred. Skill in analyzing data through the use of appropriate statistical methods is also preferred.
Experience and Education
To qualify for this position, an individual must possess any combination of experience and education that would produce the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Prior work experience related to State of Texas reporting is required. A bachelor's degree in computer science, social science, statistics, mathematics or related field is required; an advanced degree is preferred.
