[TACRAO] Listserv Awarding a single degree from two colleges

Hi Brenda,

Sam Houston does permit students to pursue 2 different degrees simultaneously. However, it is the degree designation that determines if it is a second degree. For example: A student may pursue a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting while also pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice.

However, if the major falls within the same degree designation, such as English and Biology which are both offered as a Bachelor of Arts, then it is considered a secondary major and not a secondary degree.

I hope this answered your question.

Have a great day!

Subject: [TACRAO] Listserv Awarding a single degree from two colleges

Good afternoon, TACRAO!

I have a question for you, that was posed from our Provost office:

Do any of you award degrees across colleges?

Example: Student completes 120 hour requirement to be awarded a BS in Interior Design and Art, awarded from the College of Human Sciences and the College of Visual and Performing Arts.

If you do, does your institution have any policies specific to the review, approval, and implementation of such programs?

Thank you!
