*Summary of Job Description*

The Dean of Technical Programs administers the College’s credit-bearing
associate degree and certificate programs that lead to employment,
improvement of skills, licensure, and/or certification.   The Dean performs
a critical role in planning, managing, and supervising curriculum and
instruction; budgeting; faculty development and evaluation; interfacing
with regulatory agencies; and developing external financial and physical
resources. The Dean reports directly to the Vice President for Academic
Affairs and may assume some duties of the Vice President in his/her
absence.



*Salary*

Commensurate with experience. Full Time Staff Appointment; Excellent

*Duties and Responsibilities*

Duties include but are not limited to:

   - Provide leadership to department chairs and program coordinators in
   matters of program planning and revision, course scheduling, employee
   selection and evaluation, professional development, budget development
   and monitoring, program approval by external agencies, and special
   projects
   - Provide leadership to the Special Populations/Disability Services
   Coordinator regarding planning, delivery of services, and compliance with
   state and federal regulations
   - Develop and report new technical programs and program revisions to the
   Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB)
   - Monitor and assure compliance of program and course curricula and
   student learning outcomes, with Southern Association of Colleges and
   Schools Commission on Colleges *Principles of Accreditation* and
THECB *Workforce
   Education Course Manual* and *Guidelines for Instructional Programs in
   Workforce Education*
   - Maintain and update, when necessary, THECB Workforce Education
   Inventory for degrees and certificates in all technical program
   - Assure compliance and including of general education courses to
   technical degree plans, following the THECB *Lower Division Academic
   Course Guide Manual* inventory and student learning outcomes
   - Coordinate strategic planning and budgeting for Technical Programs
   Division entities
   - Prepare an annual budget recommendation to the Perkins Basic Grant
   Project Director and participate as needed in the development of the
   Perkins annual plan
   - Review requests and make appropriate recommendations regarding student
   applications to receive college credit for Tech-Prep and articulated high
   school courses
   - Support the Director of Inmate Education in developing workforce
   education programs and credentialing at prison sites
   - Gather and disseminate labor market and skills standards information
   - Mediate student and instructor grievances

·         Serve on campus committees and collaborate with the other
administrators in a team environment

·         Act as member of the administrative team in creating and
maintaining an open, collaborative, and inclusive environment focused on
student learning and student success.

·         Work effectively with colleagues and students of various cultural
(including traditional, non-traditional and international students) and
socio-economic backgrounds.

·         Other duties as assigned.

6.      Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings and

position.

noise. Occasionally, work may be performed at industrial or business job
sites which may include an outdoor environment.

2.      Will involve some evening and weekend work. Some travel required.



*Required Qualifications*

1.      Master’s degree from a regionally-accredited institution. Minimum
of four or more years of experience preferably in higher education.;

2.      Demonstrated understanding of, and a commitment to, the two-year
college mission and purpose, teaching and learning, high academic
standards, and student success;



3.      Understanding of student development theory and programs, student
due process policies and procedures, and current issues and trends in
student affairs and student development;

4.      A background in instruction in post-secondary technical education
coupled with progressively responsible, full-time, administrative
experience in technical education;

5.      Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills;

6.      Sensitivity to and acceptance of diverse cultures and individuals;

7.      Committed to the development and implementation of innovative
delivery systems and enhanced teaching through advanced information and
instructional technologies;

8.      Knowledge of state and federal trends, issues, and regulations that
affect post-secondary education;

needed.
