[TACRAO] Listserv Verifying Attendance in Online Classes

For online course census verification and participation, there was legislation that came out on July 1, 2011, regarding census verifications of online courses. A student may be counted present if:

* S/he has demonstrated participation in the class

* Was engaged in an academically-related activity such as:

o Contribution to an online discussion

o Initiated contact with a faculty member to ask a course-related question

The legislation stated that we may no longer use the fact that the student has logged into an online class as sufficient evidence of participation for verification purposes.

Hope this helps!

We have the instructors simply verify the last login date and time, along with the last assignment/quiz/test completed. Verifying online classes is actually easier because the interactions are all date and time-stamped by the system.

Good Evening, Everyone!

UMHB is launching its first entirely online program this summer. In preparation for the launch, UMHB is investigating processes/policies for verifying attendance in online courses. For those of you who have already blazed this trail, would you please share your processes/policies? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
