[TACRAO] Listserv Admissions Letters

I agree with Dan. I see students tweeting and instagraming (is that even
a word?) their acceptance letters and tagging Lamar University. I’ve seen
their friends comment “Where is that school?” with responses “Beaumont!”
or “Southeast Texas” because our market has expanded far enough that we
are admitting traditional FTIC’s from further and further away from our
local area. Now as a former Registrar I sometimes cringe at the amount of
personal information they reveal in some of these posts (name, address,
and even student ID number at times). But from the Enrollment Management
perspective, it’s great advertisement.

We still do paper admit letters
for reasons like the attached image.

This admitted student tweeted the photo of her happily holding the
admission letter, with 28 “likes” from friends and family. No better
advertising than that.

Good morning,

I am interested in seeing how many institutions have eliminated paper
admissions acceptance letters. What are the cons, if any, of such a move?
If you still mail out hard copy admissions acceptance letters and other
materials what are the compelling reasons that you continue the practice?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
