DESCRIPTION OF JOB DUTIES:  Administers, according to regulations and guidelines, the federal, state, local and institutional student assistance programs which include loans, scholarships, grants, and student work-study; trains, directs, and supervises departmental personnel to attain the goals of the department and of the College; keeps up to date on changing regulations relating to all programs and activities; sees that files and electronic records are maintained in compliance with institutional and government regulations; submits necessary reports to federal and state agencies and requests funds for use at the College; serves as point-of-contact between the College and the US Department of Education, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and community agencies; educates Amarillo College students and prospective students regarding financial aid; supports the values and institutional goals as defined in the College's Strategic Plan; develops the program outcomes for the financial aid functional area, monitors assessment of those outcomes, and develops plans of action for improvement based on the assessment of those outcomes; performs other related duties as assigned by the Vice President of Student Affairs.


SALARY: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Excellent benefits.


GENERAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:  Substantial experience in college or university financial aid administration, supervision of personnel, general office management, and accounting is required. Experience with computer information systems, in addition to the above is preferred


EDUCATION:  Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Education, or closely related field required. Master's degree in Business Administration, Education, or closely related field preferred.



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Computer and calculator skills.  Ability to work under stress, to work independently and as a team member and to deal with people in a professional manner.  Working hours may include evenings, holidays or weekends depending on deadline requirements and special events. Some travel required.
