  Dear Social Work Professional  

During the last three years the "Academia Centroamericana de Español"
(ACCE), located in Grecia, Costa Rica, has been offering a two week
immersion Spanish program which is focused on the Social Work profession.
The program has been created based on the daily communication necessities
that Social Workers face in their work with Latin Americans and other
Spanish speaking people.
The program has been designed to be coordinated with the National
Association of Social Workers - California Chapter (NASW-CA). The main
concept of the program is to offer Social Workers the opportunity to learn
the necessary Spanish to be effective in their profession and, at the same
time, to give them the opportunity to learn the culture and live with a
local Costa Rican family. If the student does not want to stay with a host
family, then ACCE offers the possibility to stay in one of our campus
apartments, which are fully equipped and located two blocks away from the
school.

The program includes:

1.      40 Hours of Spanish classes in small groups with a maximum of 4
students. The levels go from the beginner to advanced.
2.      8 Hours of conferences about related topics to the Social Work
profession.

3.      Two visits to local social work agencies like shelters, orphanages,
drug rehabilitation centers, etc.

One of our previous attendees, from January 2005, wrote an article for the
NASW-CA. This article is about her experience in our Spanish Program for
Social Workers and about Costa Rica. If you would like to read this article,
it is shown below. 
Excursions to places of interest in Costa Rica are offered during the
seminars.  These take place during the weekdays and on the weekends. These
trips are not included in the fees for the seminars, but are also invaluable
for your total experience in Costa Rica.
 We believe that our seminars for Social Workers are the best available
anywhere. The opportunity to share and to participate with colleagues from
all over the United States and the world in a program designed specifically
to augment professional growth is priceless.  The fact that it all takes
place in Costa Rica, one of the most beautiful places on earth, makes it
even more fantastic.
The goal of this letter is to invite you to participate in our program and,
at the same time, to invite you to enjoy the beauty of one of the most
visited countries in the world.  
Also, we would be delighted to mail you brochures for our Spanish school and
for our Spanish program for Social Workers.  Please send us your address so

you might think would be interested in this program.
One other great thing!  Now, we are working with Norfolk State University in
Norfolk, Virginia.  CEUs and academic credits are available through the
Department of Social Work at this excellent university.  Ask us for more
