[swkcommunity] Invitation to Red Cross Disaster Mental Health training

The Red Cross Mental Health class is scheduled for Friday, August 18. Please
distribute to appropriately licensed professionals who are interested in
taking Red Cross Mental Health (See below).

 

This is now a 1 day course.  Class will be at the Chapter, 320 East Rieck
Road in Tyler, on Friday, August 18 from 9 - 5.  There will be coffee breaks
and a lunch break.  

 

You need to get the word out ASAP.  Have persons fill out attached
application and fax to Smith County Red Cross. Applications need to be back
in time for the instructor to check the certifications and make sure the
students are eligible to take the course.    

Note:  the application must be signed and faxed to: 903-534-9781

 

It is recommended that the students at least have had Intro to Disaster.
This is available on line at www.redcross.org <http://www.redcross.org/> .
They should click on Disaster Services on the left and then on the Disaster
page there is a "Spotlight" section on the right.  The first item there says
"Take Introduction to Disaster". 

 

In order to be eligible to take the class person must be:

Licensed psychologist; Certified health Service Provider in Psychology;
Licensed Professional Counselor; Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist;
Licensed Master Social Worker - Advanced Clinical Practitioner; Licensed
Master Social Worker - Advanced Practitioner.  

 

For DMHS, you cant' be an "associate". Or provisionally or temporarily
licensed
