Dear Student Organization Leader:

My name is Wendy Denman, and I am currently a doctoral candidate at Texas A&M University-Commerce in the department of Higher Education and Learning Technologies. I am currently working on my dissertation entitled: Experiences of Highly Involved Students in Extracurricular Activities under the supervision of my dissertation chair, Dr. Madeline Justice. The intent of this research is to gain a better understanding of the experiences of students who are involved in student organizations and work during college.

I am sending out an electronic survey via Survey Monkey entitled the Extracurricular Involvement Inventory, which is designed to assess involvement in student activities and organizations. Work will be considered a form of involvement as well for this study. The survey will also ask student and demographic information.

The criteria for participating in this study are as follows:

•         Be a student involved in student activities and organizations on campus who is registered with the office of Student Organizations at Texas A&M University-Commerce

•         Be an undergraduate or graduate student

•         Be able to read and understand English

•         Be over the age of 18 years old

If you would like to participate in this study and are willing to complete the survey, please follow the link below to the Survey Monkey website. A weekly reminder email will be sent after this initial correspondence, followed daily emails the final week of the survey deadline. Personal identification will be kept confidential in sharing the results of the survey.

This survey will be inquiring about your Spring 2017 involvement. When it asks about your last four weeks, it means, the last four weeks of the Spring semester!

At the end of the survey, you will be asked if you would consider participating in a follow up interview. You will have the option to provide your contact information if you would be willing to participate.
