Hello Student Leaders and Advisors,

I hope that you're all enjoying the start of the Fall semester. It's been a very busy time and with so many responsibilities and expectations placed on student leaders, it can often be hard to keep things together and remember your special responsibility to be a positive force on campus. I'd like to share with you the following articles that highlight a situation at a fellow University where a few student leaders created a harmful environment that will severely impact themselves and their campus community for a long time.

Please use this as a cautionary tale of how the choices you make to cope with stress and enjoy your time at college can have an effect on everybody you work, study, and hang out with. We have very high academic and behavioral expectations of our student leaders at A&M-Commerce because we know that when you leave this campus community, you will continue to be leaders in our global community. Alcohol and drug abuse, hazing, and sexual assault are never acceptable in our A&M-Commerce community and we all have a responsibility to keep each other safe. As a leader on campus, you have a special opportunity to leave a legacy for your fellow Lions. Let's make sure that legacy is one that you're proud to remember.
