1st Annual Commerce Black Heritage Festival

 

February 19th-20th

Location: Martin Luther King Dr. Commerce, TX 75429

Schedule: Food, Games, Activities, Music, Entertainment and more from 12pm-6pm

 

Wrist bands are $1 which identifies your child as a member of the festival and allows them to have privileges over those without a wrist band. Keep your wrist band for access on both days. Parking is $1 per day. Table rentals are $6 per day (2 chairs included).

The objective: To help facilitate the extension of our culture into the Future by building bridges between the Community and the University. We have formed this partnership because both organizations feel that we need to be more proactive in helping to facilitate the expansion of authentic Black culture into the future. So if you are coming out, please do bring your children. There will be a host of activities such as relay racing, bounce house, pony ride games such as horseshoes, beanbag toss, card games, dominoes, bingo, breaking piñatas, watermelon eating contest (try it with no hands!).Visits from firefighters and police, with tours of the fire truck and police car. Face painting, hula-hoop and limbo contests. Entertainment by a "house band". Live rap artist, DJ, art show, poetry reading, Black History Story Telling, Martin Luther King Speech and much More.

 

Sponsorship: The sponsors are those who will support the Commerce Black Heritage Festival this year and for many years to come. As you can see from the flyer we will have an ambitious program of diverse events planned and we need money to carry it all off. If you or your organization is interested in sponsorship opportunities, please feel free to contact me.

 

Volunteers: We need as many volunteers as possible to make this event a success. Now is the time to raise your hand and let me know if you are interested. Contact me to let me know how you would like to give back to the community.

 

We just wanted to let you know where we were at with all of this right now so that you could do your own planning. If your coming let me know and I will see your there.
