[Stuorg-adv] Saving Student Organizations' History

Greetings,

My name is Sawyer Magnus, and I am the University Archivist located in Waters Library on campus.  I am reaching out to the advisors of our student organizations to seek any materials you may have that will help tell the story of the organizations you sponsor.

The experience of students is unique, and being able to share these stories is very important. We would not be able to do this without the help of you and your students.

If you are interested and willing to help preserve their stories for the future, we recommend taking the following steps:


*         Talking with the officers to suggest appointing an officer to collect items of historic value

*         Have the appointed person as well as yourself collect any documents, photos, flyers, audio and visual items, digital items, 3D objects, and other materials

*         Contact the archives at archives at tamuc.edu<mailto:archives at tamuc.edu> when you or the organization would like to donate items to be preserved

*         Also contact us if you have older items that have been collected from previous years that are no longer needed by the organization but would have historic value. We would be happy to collect those items as well.

Please contact us at the email above with any questions you may have.  I would be happy to meet with you or the group you advise at any time to talk more about what we do and our interest in preserving the history of these organizations.
