Hello Student Organizations,
I’m reaching out to you on behalf of Faculty Senate, Staff Council, and the Office of the Vice President for Inclusion. We have recently decided to create a statement of support for the trans community, which I have attached to this email as a PDF and copied below. This statement will be disseminated to the entire campus community.
We are hoping that your organization might want to add their name to list of organization that supports this statement (which you can see is primarily an affirmation of the A&M-Commerce’s existing policies).
The timeliness of this message is important, so we ask that you respond to this email if you are interested in showing your support by this THURSDAY, May 5th at 5pm. Excitingly, the university is behind this message and looks to release it on our website and to other outlets.
We would love to have your support! Please let me know, as well as direct any questions to me.
Thank you so much,
Emily

The Faculty Senate, Staff Council, and the Office of the Vice President for Inclusion want to emphasize and reiterate the principles of Texas A&M University-Commerce and The Texas A&M University System. A&M-Commerce supports all people who work for and attend our University. As our vision statement<https://www.tamuc.edu/about-us/> makes clear, the University strives to “serve an inclusive community where all are valued.”
A&M-Commerce encourages a friendly campus atmosphere by embracing diversity and creating a sense of belonging. The University’s foundational principles<https://www.tamuc.edu/strategicplan/> support and amplify inclusivity, ensuring a welcoming environment where everyone is respected. On our campus, everyone can find a safe and inclusive home.
Furthermore, the Texas A&M System’s mission<https://www.tamus.edu/system/about/> is “to provide education, conduct research, commercialize technology, offer training, and deliver services for the people of Texas and beyond through its universities, state agencies, and health science center.” By serving the people of Texas, the A&M System and A&M-Commerce are committed to supporting all Texans.
The A&M-Commerce employee organizations, including the Faculty Senate, Staff Council, and the Office of the Vice President for Inclusion, reaffirm the A&M System’s and University’s statements of inclusivity, support, and service to the community. Our commitment to these principles and goals extends to all A&M-Commerce students and employees, specifically those who identify as transgender and all members of the LGBTQIA+ community. As members of one Lion pride, we stand united in support of one another.
This statement is further endorsed by [insert organizations].
