Commerce, Texas (May 16, 2012)—The 2nd Annual Integrated Approach to Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Conference will be held from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. June 13 and from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. June 14 on the second floor of the Sam Rayburn Student Center at Texas A&M University-Commerce.

“The conference is beneficial to our efforts to create healthy communities,” said Dianna Jones, adjunct instructor of social work and director of Project RESPECT. “Our motto this year is ‘providing training opportunities for our campuses and communities to end sexual assault and domestic violence.’"

This conference provides advanced training for existing abuse issues in the community and at university and college campuses. Attendees will receive hands-on training for responding, investigating, prosecuting and assisting professionals in working with both victims and perpetrators of sexual assault and domestic violence. Participants will learn effective prevention and intervention tools necessary to provide essential services to their clients.

This event is open to the public and primarily for professionals including law enforcement officers, social workers, victim service providers, advocates, social service professionals and other criminal justice personnel.

Early registration for this event ends June 4 and offers attendees a $5 discount. After June 4, registration will be $30.
Students are needed to help facilitate the conference if they would like to volunteer for service hours.
