Texas A&M University-Commerce senior guard Britney Jordan has been named one of the 41 finalists for the 2009 Division II State Farm Coaches’ All-America Basketball Team, the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) announced today.

Jordan earned the nod by receiving enough votes from WBCA member coaches in each of the eight regions, and now has the opportunity to become a part of the 10-member team for the first time in her career.

The Peoria, Ill., native garnered WBCA Honorable Mention honors last season, but has the chance to become the first A&M-Commerce women’s basketball player to receive honors above the third-team after her performance this year.

Kanani Marshal is the only other player in program history to receive All-American recognition after being named to the Daktronics Third-Team in 2006-07.

Jordan, who was selected as the Lone Star Conference North Division Player of Year and earned first-team all-conference honors for the third straight year, wrapped up the season averaging 31.3 points per game, which leads all scorers regardless of level.

Jordan closed with 909 points this season and has 2,105 for her career. She has also broken 20 program records and four conference records throughout her three-year stay with the Lions.

The WBCA, in cooperation with State Farm, will announce the 2009 State Farm Coaches’ All-American team at the NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Banquet on March 23 at the Buckhorn Museum in San Antonio.
