A&M-Commerce Athletic Department hosted a reception in <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City
w:st="on">Paris</st1:City></st1:place> that included the Lions Coaches Show.
A special guest was Gene Stallings, a member of the A&M System Board of
Regents who will be on our campus to deliver the University Convocation on
March 4. Quoting President McFarland, “Mr. Stallings played
football for Texas A&M University under head coach Paul “Bear”
Bryant, went on to serve as head football coach for A&M, and coached
professional football for 18 years, including serving as assistant coach under
Tom Landry and the Dallas Cowboys for 14 years. The author of a book, <i><span
style='font-style:italic'>Another Season</span></i>, which describes the love
he has for his son who was born with Down Syndrome, Mr. Stallings is a noted
speaker and is the recipient of many coaching and humanitarian awards.”<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
