[Students] Student Regent and Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board applications OPEN

[A&M-Commerce Students]

Good morning,

I hope you are having a great start to the year! The A&M System opened applications for the 2021-2022 Student Regent and 2021-2022 Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board Non-Voting Student Representative positions. If you are interested in either of these positions, please apply and submit your application.

These positions are great for resume building, building relationships, and networking.

Texas A&M Student Regent:
Time commitment

*         Quarterly meetings with the A&M Board of Regents

*         Special meetings arranged as needed.

*         Travel for campus visits (touring each A&M school)

*         A&M System social activities (for example, networking events).
Compensation

*         Not a paid position

*         Any travel, the student will be reimbursed.
Description

*         Same powers and duties as Board of Regents; however, is not a member of the board.

*         Has the right to attend and participate in Board meetings.

*         Does not vote on matters before the board

*         Travels to each A&M System campus, learns about and advocates for the needs of A&M System students.

Eligibility

*         Must be a returning student OR

*         Completed their degree and returning to the institution for an additional degree

*         Grade Point Average of 2.5

Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board Non-Voting Student Representative

Time commitment

*         3 of 4 Quarterly board meetings in January, April, July, and October
Compensation

*         Not a paid position

*         Any travel, the student will be reimbursed.
Description

*         Same powers and duties as members of the board

*         Has the right to attend and participate in Board meetings.

*         Does not vote on matters before the board

Eligibility

*         Enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student in a public institution.

*         Be in good academic standing as determined by the institution.

*         Strong drive and self-motivation to contribute to the progress of higher education in Texas

*         Grade Point Average of 2.5
