We, the Student Government Association at Texas A&M University-Commerce, are saddened and disheartened by the actions taken by police resulting in the murder of Mr. George Floyd. The Student Government Association believes in and advocates for honoring the lives of those who we have lost due to racial injustice.

As Student Body President, I am committed to representing, supporting, and advocating for all students. The incident of Mr. George Floyd, along with countless similar occurrences, has negatively impacted our students and our communities. We support you; we hear you; and stand with you, working towards speaking out against all injustices. The Student Government Association does not condone discriminatory, derogatory, or racist remarks and behaviors that negatively impact our students.

Moving forward, the Student Government Association will continue to advocate for a safe campus, a civil campus, and a campus environment where all students feel welcome and heard. As a student body, we must come together and support one another. If you need anything, have issues or concerns, do not hesitate to reach out or contact us. We are here for you.
