The Lion Food Pantry Update:

In light of the recent events surrounding COVID-19, we wanted to share an update on The Lion Food Pantry. The health and safety of our pantry visitors, staff, and volunteers is very important to us. While we strive to continue providing food assistance, at this time, we need to adapt the way we are distributing food. Effective immediately we will be transitioning to pre-packaged bags of food rather than our typical "choice shopping model".

Packaged items will be first come, first serve. Not all bags will include the exact same items and no items can be swapped. Please inform staff if you have any special dietary needs, such as food allergies or restrictions, by emailing Lionpantry at tamuc.edu<mailto:lionpantry at tamuc.edu>.

Food packages will be distributed from a pop-up pantry, located at the Rayburn Student Center, on Wednesday from 11am to 4pm, in rooms Dedication and Determination, on the 2nd floor of the RSC. Please only take one bag, per student, as we have limited resources. Students will need to sign in with their CWID.

We will continue to monitor the situation and make adjustments, as needed, in order to continue supporting our Lions. Please refer to our social media and emails for updates. If you have questions about resources, please email Lionpantry at tamuc.edu<mailto:Lionpantry at tamuc.edu>.

We hope everyone remains safe and healthy during this difficult time and abide by all the health measures and recommendations advised by the CDC and the A&M-Commerce campus guidelines.
Here are the steps we are taking to protect our pantry visitors, volunteers, and staff:
In the pantry:

* Frequent cleaning of commonly used areas, equipment and door knobs

*       Adding hand sanitizer

* Following best practices for safe food handling, as always.

* Limiting social contact among staff preparing food packages
For our volunteers and staff:

* Encouraging individuals to closely monitor health and well-being

* Providing hand sanitizer and tissues

* Asking volunteers and staff to stay home if they, or someone in their household, are sick
For pantry visitors/users:

* Encouraging pantry visitors/users to follow the guidance from the CDC and the university.
