Spring semester, 2018 is quickly coming to a close.
This is the perfect time to do a bit of financial aid housekeeping.
Graduating this May?
If so, congratulations! You are closing one chapter and starting another one.
Review your financial aid history, especially if you have borrowed federal student loans.

* Visit studentloans.gov<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__studentloans.gov_myDirectLoan_index.action&d=DwIFAg&c=oqyuZuih6ykib6aKiBq22_bich4AVfYGoLertJN0bEc&r=d7mEB2p2506frt6QpEuAWJ8K3NYabkARjALZdNKKn6A&m=rGociwPW9Ey9iLFZlRYgrAva-h2aJ_PjFJdqRgz8PeM&s=1D9i0fIq2AIAb-HA9o_DPP0ZW3fs8Xhh_KzaSxxm9c4&e=> and log in to your account using your FSA ID.
Want to know how much you borrowed over time?

* At studentloans.gov<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__studentloans.gov_myDirectLoan_index.action&d=DwIFAg&c=oqyuZuih6ykib6aKiBq22_bich4AVfYGoLertJN0bEc&r=d7mEB2p2506frt6QpEuAWJ8K3NYabkARjALZdNKKn6A&m=rGociwPW9Ey9iLFZlRYgrAva-h2aJ_PjFJdqRgz8PeM&s=1D9i0fIq2AIAb-HA9o_DPP0ZW3fs8Xhh_KzaSxxm9c4&e=> you will see all the federal student loans you received at each and every school you ever attended regardless of how long ago these happened, regardless of the name(s) you have used. It's all in one neat section.
Want to know your repayment options?

* Again, studentloans.gov<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__studentloans.gov_myDirectLoan_index.action&d=DwIFAg&c=oqyuZuih6ykib6aKiBq22_bich4AVfYGoLertJN0bEc&r=d7mEB2p2506frt6QpEuAWJ8K3NYabkARjALZdNKKn6A&m=rGociwPW9Ey9iLFZlRYgrAva-h2aJ_PjFJdqRgz8PeM&s=1D9i0fIq2AIAb-HA9o_DPP0ZW3fs8Xhh_KzaSxxm9c4&e=>. Here you will find such topics:

o Loan services; the agencies that will handle your loan(s) after graduation

o Understanding Repayment; when to start repayment, the various options available based on your loan history and your unique cases

o   Deferment/Forbearance/Forgiveness/Cancellation/ etc.
Exit Counseling;

* This is a requirement you need to complete as part of your responsibility as a student borrower

* This is a requirement even if you are going to pursue another degree at A&M-Commerce
And, of course, Understanding Default

* What it is. When it happens. Why it happens.

* But most important of all - how to avoid default!

If you are not yet graduating, this is also a good time to review your full loan history to plan ahead:
Undergraduate and Graduate student borrowers
Know how much you borrowed at each school you ever attended
Know ow much you borrowed overall and how much borrowing power you will have
Check out the Repayment Estimator for average payments based on how much debt you have to date
Undergraduate students pursuing your 1st bachelor's degree
Check your Financial Aid History at NSLDS
If you received a Pell Grant at any school at any time, during your college career a visit to Financial Aid History at NSLDS is a good start. Here you will find;

* How much Federal Pell Grant you receive at each school

* How much federal Pell Grant you have remaining.
