Reminder:
The email below was sent on 3/20/2018.
It is being sent again for those who may not have had an opportunity to read it the first time around. Priority Deadline is April 15th.

The Summer Financial Aid Request On Line Questionnaire is now available.
**NOTE: This does not apply to students who are in the Organizational Leadership program.

Students registering in courses in either the summer I and /or summer II, the summer 10 week session, or doing Study Abroad program need to complete the on line Summer Financial Aid Online Questionnaire.

Summer uses the 17-18 FAFSA / TASFA information; the summer is the end of the 17-18 academic year. If you do not have a 17-18 FAFSA / TASFA on file, don't wait. The 17-18 FAFSA / TASFA must be in our office no later than June 15th, 2018 for our office to have sufficient processing time prior to the end of the fiscal year. This means you must complete the FAFSA at https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__fafsa.gov&d=DwIFAg&c=oqyuZuih6ykib6aKiBq22_bich4AVfYGoLertJN0bEc&r=d7mEB2p2506frt6QpEuAWJ8K3NYabkARjALZdNKKn6A&m=ZdyYHKsorSFR9GjUUp6MlS4_-wWOr-eIuYGJXFHHPes&s=MuhlGJgR8zipbFer-9FlNFh3Z_D7lXmigfXrckRRHNQ&e= no later than June 10th, 2018 to meet our deadline of June 15th, 2018.
Important things to remember:
1. The courses must be part of the educational degree plan you are pursuing.
* Ask your academic advisor if you have any questions on the courses to take.

* Taking courses that are not required of the degree you are pursuing is part of the program applicability rules set by the Department of Education.
2. You need to be registered in no less than 6 credit hours for most financial aid programs.
* Dissertation 718 course is the only exception.

o The 6 credit hour rule is not an internal financial aid policy.

o It is a requirement of the financial aid program(s) directly.

* The minimum 6 credit hours can be attempted in any of the following most common combinations.

*
Summer I (includes 10 week)

Summer II

6 credit hrs.
0 credit hrs.
3 credit hrs.

and

0 credit hrs.
6 credit hrs.
3 credit hrs.

* If you drop below 6 credit hours during the Summer period, any financial aid issued is subject to cancellation and repayment may be required.

* If you are in any other combinations other than those above, please contact our office. Combinations other than those above must be handled separately and manually.
3. If you are graduating in the summer, have less than 6 credit hours to graduate, are a financial aid recipient in good standing, do not register in courses that are not required simply to meet the 6 credit hour rule. Check the Homer Tate Initiative Scholarship program<http://www.tamuc.edu/admissions/tuitionCosts/financialAidandScholarships/scholarships/TexasAMUniversityCommerceScholarships/homerTateInitiativeScholarship.aspx> for eligibility.

* Remember, that taking courses that are not required of the degree you are pursuing is part of the program applicability rules set by the Department of Education.
4. You must be meeting financial aid standards of progress at the end of the spring semester to obtain financial aid.
5. Courses taken at another school through a consortium agreement are funded only through federal financial aid you may have remaining. Visit our Summer Consortium Agreement<http://www.tamuc.edu/admissions/tuitionCosts/financialAidandScholarships/summer-2018-financial-aid/summerconsortium.aspx> site for full information, instructions, and the Summer Consortium Agreement form<http://www.tamuc.edu/admissions/tuitionCosts/financialAidandScholarships/documents/forms/1718SummerConsortiumAgreement.pdf>.
