Texas A&M University-Commerce benefits from the safety and security provided by our nation. We also pride ourselves on our friendly, supportive, and diverse campus community, which includes students, faculty, and staff from around the world. President Dr. Ray Keck reinforced the campus community's commitment to maintaining this important aspect of the A&M Commerce experience stating, "At Texas A&M-Commerce, we embrace the words of Emma Lazarus chiseled into the base of our Statue of Liberty: Give me your poor, your tired, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free..." All of us descend from men and women who at one time were humanity seeking refuge. In that spirit, we will continue to welcome new cultures and new immigrants to the American dream."

By executive order, the White House recently issued a temporary ban on allowing citizens of seven countries entry into the United States. At this time, the potential impact on our community members remains unclear.

For those in our A&M-Commerce community with ties to Iran, Iraq, Libya, Syria, Yemen, Somalia, and Sudan, please proceed cautiously when planning any international travel until further notice. Please know that, as always, we are here to support you as best we can. We will continue working with the Texas A&M University System and other state leaders to monitor ongoing developments as this situation unfolds.

If you have questions or concerns, please contact the office of International Student and Scholar Services at 903-886-5097 or IntlStu at tamuc.edu<mailto:IntlStu at tamuc.edu>, or the Dean of Students, Tomás Aguirre, at 903-886-5153 or Tomas.Aguirre at tamuc.edu<mailto:Tomas.Aguirre at tamuc.edu>.
