RE:                 Campus Parking




With our continued enrollment growth, it is an exciting time to be at Texas A&M University-
Commerce. As you may know, we have several capital projects underway, and we are excited to
soon begin construction on our new Nursing and Health Sciences Building near Gee Lake. This
weekend the construction fence for this project will go up around parking lot 35 (see campus
map). I am aware this will cause additional "growing pains" so I would like to address several
efforts we are taking to help alleviate parking concerns.


1.      We have recently posted an RFP regarding the Leberman Hall demolition. It is our hope

to demo Leberman Hall and use that location for temporary parking by the end of summer.

2.      We have hired a parking consultant to look at our immediate and long-term options for

parking.

3.      We are currently reviewing other available locations near and around campus to see if these

would be feasible for temporary parking during the construction process.

4.      We are increasing shuttle routes during our construction improvement projects for those

who may need to park further away.


During this construction time, we may need to utilize the exterior parking lots, which continue to
have open spaces daily. These are parking lots 1, 3, 16, 19, 28 and 33 on the campus map. Please
contact the transportation office at (903) 468-3093 if you arrive on campus and cannot find a
parking place.

I will continue to provide updates and appreciate your understanding as we embark upon this
exciting time in A&M-Commerce history. Only together, can we ensure our campus remains a
wonderful place to work and live!
