OUTSIDE SCHOLARSHIP/FELLOWSHIP OPPORTUNITY

Dallas Reading Scholars Fellows: Current college students selected to serve as literacy tutors 8-10 hours a week in Dallas are eligible to receive a $1,500 scholarship. To apply and for more information visit www.earlymattersdallas.org/fellowship<http://www.earlymattersdallas.org/fellowship>. Deadline: December 5, 2016.

-------------
In 2015 in Dallas County, only 34% of 3rd graders read on grade level. The Reading Scholars program was created to address this challenge in our Dallas community. By equipping our students with the ability to read, we are setting them up to succeed in school and in life.

Reading Scholars Fellows program is an education partnership between Dallas education and civic organizations. The program exists to empower college students to serve as literacy tutors in local, underserved schools in Dallas. Each fellow that is selected will serve 8 - 10 hours a week at their partner site and with their partner organization for the Spring 2017 semester. Upon completion of the fellowship, each student (who must be currently enrolled at an accredited 2- or 4-year college or university) will be eligible to receive a $1500 scholarship, awarded to their higher education institution.

To apply, go to earlymattersdallas.org/fellowship. Applications will be accepted until Monday, December 5th, 2016. After review, applicants that are accepted to the next round will be asked to provide 2 references, and complete a short interview in early January 2017.

Thank you for your interest in the Reading Scholars Fellows program! We look forward to reviewing your application.

Partner Organizations: Early Matters Dallas, the Carr Cares Foundation, Beacon Hill, Readers 2 Leaders, Reading Partners, UNITE, United Way of Metropolitan Dallas, and VolunteerNow
