[Students] To Financial Aid Recipients for Spring 2016: Reminder of Minimum Hours of Enrollment

This is a friendly reminder that financial aid recipients must be enrolled in a minimum number of credit hours. Those credit hours must be directly associated with the degree they are pursuing.
Financial aid programs usually require a minimum of 6 credit hours. Some financial aid programs require full time enrollment (Undergraduate level is 12 hours or more; Graduate level is 9 hours or more)
Only two financial aid programs will release to Student Accounts when enrollment is less than 6 credit hours and that amount is prorated.

Information on the requirements of financial aid programs is also available in your myLEO; financial aid section, Terms and Conditions for each program you are issued.
The Financial Aid & Scholarships Office began releasing financial aid to Student Accounts on 1/9/2016. We continue releasing financial aid each day.
Financial aid programs that require a minimum of 6 hours will not release if enrollment is less. Those financial aid programs that can release for less than 6 hours already have released.
We also monitor enrollment changes through census date (2/3/2016).

*         If enrollment drops to below 6 hours from when financial aid originally released, that financial aid can be cancelled if you do not register for more hours in your degree plan.

*         If you are graduating this semester and need less than 6 credit hours to graduate, do not take a course just to make the 6 hours. Check the information on the Homer Tate Initiative Scholarship Program on our web site to see if you meet the requirements. This is only for financial aid recipients in good standing who cannot receive financial aid because they have less than 6 credit hours to graduate this spring semester. *         If you are no longer registered in any hours from when financial aid originally released, financial aid will be cancelled. Refunds that were sent out to HigherOne must be repaid.
Review the requirements of your financial aid through your myLEO; financial aid section, terms and conditions for each program you are receiving.
Check your student bill through your myLEO, LEOPAY and see if you have a balance remaining after your financial aid released. Remember, some financial aid programs will not release if your enrollment is 5 hours or less. If this is your situation, check with your academic advisor to see what other courses in your degree program you may be able to register for this spring 2016 semester.
