[Students] Beware of External Scholarship Email Going Around; Concussion Awareness Scholarship

[Maria C Ramos]

Some of you may have received or may receive an email with the Subject Line: Concussion Awareness Scholarship Now Available. The sender's email address will be @alumnidirector.com.
The email indicates to visit http://www.thepassrusher.com/concussionawareness.html?7th for application, information, etc.
If one looks at the application instructions, the application is to be sent to a PO Box, and to include $5.00(cash only to help defray costs).
This is a scholarship scam. Things to look for?

1. Application fee

2. Request for cash only

3. Fee to help defray costs
Legitimate agencies would not charge an application fee, would not request money to defray costs and mainly would not indicate 'CASH ONLY'.
Cash cannot be traced. Recommendation? Keep your $5.00.
A friendly reminder from your financial aid & scholarships office.
