Planning on attending summer school?
Applying for financial aid for the summer?
The Summer Financial Aid Request process is on-line and open.
WHERE TO START:

1. Review your degree plan. See what courses you need to complete your degree.

2. Check the Summer Class Schedule<http://appsprod.tamuc.edu/Schedule/Schedule.aspx>. See what courses are being offered for summer 1, summer 2 and/or 10 week summer session.

3. Do you have a question about your course selection, check with your academic advisor.
If the courses you need are being offered in the Summer Class Schedule<http://appsprod.tamuc.edu/Schedule/Schedule.aspx>, you can apply for summer financial aid.
NOTE:

1. You do not need to be registered to complete the Summer Financial Aid Request online form. Registration for courses through your myLEO will occur based on the Registration Schedule Information on the Registrar's web site<http://www.tamuc.edu/admissions/registrar/academicCalendars/registrationSchedule.aspx>.

2. Do not take courses that are not part of your degree; either as part of the major, part of the basics, or part of electives.

a. Taking courses that are not part of the degree just to meet the 6 credit hour-minimum is not appropriate. If it is noted, financial aid will be cancelled.

b. Retaking courses for which a prior passing grade was earned will not be covered by financial aid, unless the course is part of the major and a higher grade is required in order for the course to be accepted to the major.

3. Grades will be checked at the end of the spring 2015 semester. Review the Financial Aid Standards of Progress<http://www.tamuc.edu/admissions/tuitionCosts/financialAidandScholarships/satisfactory-academic-progress/default.aspx> for specific requirements we look for at the end of the spring 2015 semester.
SUMMER FINANCIAL AID
Summer financial aid falls at the end of the 14-15 academic year. Summer funding is determined but not limited to fund allocation, each student's annual & aggregate limits for student loans, and other eligibility.
Financial aid is available for Summer I, Summer II, and/or 10 week session.
Financial aid is not directly available to students for May mini session. Students will need to obtain a tuition loan through A&M-Commerce for the payment of the May-mini course. The tuition loan and any applicable fees will be a debt to the university. When summer financial aid is released all debt is paid first to the fullest extent of the summer financial aid.
ENROLLMENT REQUIREMENTS
A minimum enrollment of 6 credit hours is required for most funds such as federal student loans. The minimum 6 credit hours can be attempted in any of the following most common combinations.

Summer I ( includes 10 week) Summer II

0 credit hours and 6 credit hours
3 credit hours and 3 credit hours

If you drop below 6 credit hours during the Summer Period, any financial aid issued is subject to cancellation and repayment may be required.
Please Note: If you are in a 2 + 4 or 4 + 2 credit hour combination, please email FAO.WEB at tamuc.edu<mailto:FAO.WEB at tamuc.edu>. These combinations must be handled separately and manually.
Financial Aid Standards of Progress (SAP)<http://www.tamuc.edu/admissions/tuitionCosts/financialAidandScholarships/satisfactory-academic-progress/default.aspx> & Summer Classes
