This email is to possibly clear up any questions or concerns to students about the new tailgating area, but if there are still questions, please call the Athletics Department at 903-886-5558. A map has been included to hopefully help with the understanding. All students are encouraged to take part in tailgating. This area is for all students, not just registered student groups. Reservations can be made now for tailgate spots.
1. On the map, spots 10-14 are reserved for students. If students are interested in getting one of these spots, they can call the athletics department and put their name on a list. Groups can request to be on the list for certain games or for all games. If more than 4 groups request a specific game, a random drawing will be conducted to determine the four groups for that game. Organizations are encouraged to reserve a spot #15-39 in the event that they do not get one of the spots on the road. The groups that will receive the spots along the street will be notified by 5 pm on the Monday before a home game. Requests will need to be in by noon on the Monday before a home game.
2. If any student or group would like to reserve any spot 15-39, they may do so by calling the Athletics Department. A spot can be reserved for the entire season or for a single game, based on availability. These are free for students. Reservations for these spots can be made at any time before the day of the game.
3. If a student group wants a spot from 1-10, there is a $100 for the season, or $25 for a single game. These spots are sold on a first come, first served basis.
4. For anyone that has a spot #15 through #39:
a. Grills are allowed, unless we have a burn ban (rule for whole tailgating area)
b. "Hot" dumpsters will be in the tailgate area to dump any hot coals from grills (for all tailgating area)
c. Students can drop off any items (grills, tents, chairs, etc.) that they are planning to use in their tailgate area in the "Drop Off Zone" and then find a place to park on campus
d. Tailgating will shut down 15 minutes prior to the game. At that point, no one will be allowed to stay in the tailgate area. All items may be left in the tailgate area, at your own risk. Items will not be watched by security. We are not responsible for any lost or stolen items. We would strongly suggest that all items are packed and put away at this time, but it is not required. The Drop Off Zone will be open for anyone that wants to bring a vehicle back to the tailgate area and put their belongings away. All items will need to be cleared from the tailgate area 30 minutes after the game.
e. At this time, a shuttle is not planned, but is being looked at to help with transportation of people from areas around campus.
f. Groups that reserve a spot and do not show will lose "reserving" privileges for the rest of the season.
g. Spots do not have to be reserved. If there are open spots on game days, they will be marked and can be filled on a first come, first served basis.
h. Multiple spots can be reserved for the entire season or single games, based on availability
5. Tables and chairs will not be provided for any tailgating groups
