Hispanic Film Showcase Fall 2013

Hispanic Painters Portrayed in Film

The Spanish Program and Hispanic Outreach Office present the Hispanic Film Showcase for Fall 2013.

The topic this semester will be Hispanic Painters. The film selection will present biopics based on artists from the Hispanic world, who have been influential and recognized as world masters within the painting movement they represent.

Painting is a universal artistic expression. Hispanic culture has made a remarkable contribution to this art through time. Film, as a popular cultural expression of our time, has been also a vehicle to portray the lives of painters, their influences, and society of their time.

This fall, the combination of both of these arts presents the opportunity to learn about a selection of painters coming from the Hispanic world. The film selection will explore artists in their historic and artistic time.

The four movies of the series will be introduced by distinguished professors from the departments of Literature and Languages, Curriculum and Instruction, and Psychology, Counseling & Special Education.

Save the following dates and be ready to enjoy and learn about Hispanic Arts in films right here on the campus of Texas A&M University-Commerce!
