[Students] HHPK 536: Adapted Kinesiology

Hello Students!

 

The Department of Health & Human Performance is offering HHPK 536
Adapted Kinesiology this Spring!  

 

The course is designed to challenge students to critically evaluate how
persons with disabilities function in terms of physical, psychological,
and social elements as well as to identify and discuss numerous methods
of how we can assist these individuals whether in education, physical
activity, recreation, sport, or in general. This course involves a
Disability Audit in which students will log all environments entered and
utilized in a 48 hour period and then analyze the functionality of these
environments for persons with disabilities. 

 

These concepts can be applied in a variety of academic disciplines
(especially education) and would be a great elective course! We are
currently being impacted by legislation that is challenging us in terms
of online course delivery and the mandates as to how to accommodate
students with undisclosed disabilities. This is a great topic for
research!
