[Students] Construction Safety

As we get into the busy time of the year for construction, please take a
few minutes to look over some important safety tips!

 

While Driving 

*	Expect the unexpected - look around and be sure it is safe to
approach areas of construction and pass with caution
*	Be aware of heavy machinery
*	SLOW DOWN! Speeding is one of the major causes of work zone
accidents
*	Travel at slow speeds while approaching and passing construction
zones
*	Pay close attention to signs and work zone flaggers
*	Keep an eye on workers and their equipment

 

While Walking

*	Expect the unexpected - look around and be sure it is safe to
approach areas of construction and pass with caution
*	Do not cross through areas of construction, pay attention to
guarding, caution tape, and barricades
*	Avoid areas where crews are working, if necessary find an
alternate route to get to your destination
*	Pay attention to street traffic to and from the area of
construction
