The Red River Region Business Incubator, the Paris Small Business
Development Center and Texas A&M University - Commerce are conducting a
small business and entrepreneur's boot camp on August 3 & 4 in
conjunction with a Business Plan Competition.

Definition & Purpose
The Red River Region Business Incubator has scheduled a two day focused
and concentrated classroom event for owners of early stage businesses
and entrepreneurs planning to start a business. The purpose of the Boot
Camp is to upgrade the business skills of the attendees and increase the
sustainability of new businesses in the region.

The Boot Camp consists of a series of seminars on topics of extreme
importance to creating and managing a sustainable business in today's
economic environment. The business skills presented are applicable to
all industries.

Sponsor
The R3bi is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit corporation dedicated to
Entrepreneurism and the Economic Development of Northeast Texas.

Funding for R3bi functions is provided by Federal Grants, sponsorship
from area businesses and support from the Paris Economic Development
Corporation.

The R3bi partners with educational institutions in the region, including
Paris Junior College and Texas A&M University - Commerce, the local
offices of the Small Business Development Center and area Chambers of
Commerce and Economic Development Organizations.

Audience
Programs of The R3bi are open to any entrepreneur or small business
owner, regardless of location. High School seniors, college and
University Students desiring to gain an understanding of entrepreneurism
are encouraged to participate. The programs are targeted to a
geographic area of Northeast Texas and Southeastern Oklahoma. The Boot
Camp is not geographically limited but the specific target includes the
following counties:
*	Choctaw, OK
*	Red River, TX
*	Lamar, TX
*	Fannin, TX
*	Delta, TX
*	Titus, TX
*	Franklin, TX
*	Hopkins, TX
*	Hunt, TX

Who will benefit the most from the Boot Camp?
*	Students with a plan to bypass corporate America and start out
in their own enterprise.
*	People who are currently employed but are looking to start a
side business or make the jump into being their own boss.
*	Post deployment or post service veterans who have not found a
job that meets their expectations and family members of serving military
*	Job Seekers who are having trouble finding a position with a
company that motivates or challenges their abilities and want to know
what it takes to strike out on their own.
*	Stay At Home Parents who are looking to supplement their
household's income by turning their ideas into profitable businesses.
*	Business Owners who want to diversify and investigate other
means of increasing their business income.
*	Teachers and other professionals who are looking for a career
change.
What you will Learn
You will learn what it takes in commitment and skill to create a
sustainable business. The reason you need a plan and how to create a
working document to guide you on the journey.

Day one also includes a review of the basic measurement you will need to
evaluate your business and an exercise to insure an understanding of how
to project cash requirements in a business. The use of social media in
today's business world and the free tools that are available will be
presented.

Day two begins with a discussion of labor laws and regulations that
every new businessman must know. The key to employee productivity and
techniques for pricing a product or service will be included in the
morning session. The session concludes with how to effectively
establish and saturate your target market.

Lunch is provided each day and a local, successful entrepreneur will
discuss how and why they created a successful business.

Venue
The Small Business & Entrepreneurial Boot Camp is scheduled for August 3
- 4, 2012. The event will be held in Room 348 of the Business
Administration Building at Texas A&M University - Commerce. The session
will commence at 9:00 AM each day and conclude at 5:00 PM. Lunch,
coffee and soft drinks and snacks will be provided each day.

Financial Considerations
The tuition for the Boot Camp is $225.00. The philosophy is that the
tuition should not prevent anyone from attending the session.
Scholarships are available from a number of sources that reduce the
total cost to $25.00. This cost is comparable to similar classes
offered from educational and civic institutions. Commercial operations
providing similar programs often cost many times the $225 fee for this
Boot Camp.

High School students may apply for a $200 Scholarship. Service
Organizations in the region are providing support to any High School
student desiring to attend.

Workforce Solutions Northeast Texas will provide a $200 scholarship to
any attendee from Lamar, Delta, Hopkins, Red River, Franklin, Titus,
Morris, and Cass & Bowie Counties. These scholarships are available to
any individual who is unemployed as result of current economic
conditions OR a current business owner in one of the above counties.

The Paris Economic Development Corporations has pledged a number of
$200.00 scholarships for college and University students.

The R3bi has scholarship available from additional sources to any
individual wishing to attend the boot camp and the full tuition would
pose a financial handicap.

Any veteran of the United States Armed Forces desiring to attend the
class is eligible for a $200 scholarship.

Registration
You may register on line at www.R3bi.org. Just click on the Boot Camp
Registration button. The application process will include the ability
to request a scholarship. You may also register by calling the R3bi at
903-905-4979 and ask for Jane on extension 2.

Attendees will be eligible for a drawing for two Texas Ranger Tickets.
A drawing ticket will be given for each session attended and the drawing
will be held at the end of day 2. You must be present to win.

Business Plan Competition
The R3bi will conduct a business plan competition from August 1, 2012 -
September 14, 2012 with the winner announced October 1, 2012. The
submission of entries, notification of finalist and applicant
presentations will be on line. The five finalists will make a video
presentation of the business plan for the final judging. A special high
school student category for business plans not intended for immediate
implementation.

The winner will be awarded a $10,000 cash prize and one year free
residency in the Red River Region Business Incubator. The winner of the
student category will receive a cash award of $1,000.

The competition will be open to any applicant. However, the Boot Camp
will provide a comprehensive understanding of business plan requirements
and refine many of the skills needed to participate and win such a
competition.
