[Students] Commencement Information - Summer 2012

Information for the Texas A&M University-Commerce, Saturday, August 11th graduation ceremony

·       All students should report to the University Field House approximately 40 minutes prior to their ceremony

·         The graduation ceremony events will be at the University Field House with ceremonies starting at 9:30 am.  

·         When you arrive at University Field House please be ready to walk.  Meaning, have your cap & gown on or in hand.  We will immediately start lining you up in the correct order for the ceremony.  

Undergraduates Will be at 9:30 am (please arrive 40 minutes prior)

v 9:30 Ceremony Will line up in the following rooms by alphabetical order of Last Name (Surname)

§  College of Business & Entrepreneurship will line up in Room 005

§  College of Education & Human Services will line up in Room 003

§  College of Humanities, Social Sciences, & Arts will line up in Room 103

§  College of Science, Engineering & Agriculture will line up in Room 102

Doors will open for guest at 8:45 am.  This ceremony is not ticketed, which means guests do NOT need a ticket to enter the field house. 

Doctoral/Specialist/Masters (Graduate Studies & Research) will be at 2:00 pm. (Please arrive 40 minutes prior)

Doors will open for guest at 1:15 pm. This ceremony is not ticketed, which means guests do NOT need a ticket to enter the field house.  

·         Parking-Handicapped parking spaces is available in parking lot L.  Shuttle buses, free of charge, will be rotating throughout the parking areas approximately every 15 minutes.

v  Guest & Graduate entrance is in the front of the University Fieldhouse. There will NOT be access or drop off areas in the back of the building.

·         (Undergraduates Only) Students with Academic Distinction (GPA of 3.5 or higher-you will receive a letter for this distinction) will receive a medallion the day of the ceremony.  Once you come in the Field House you will need to go to the Academic Distinction Room for your college and remain in that room.  

A table will be set up for you to sign for your medallion. 

·         (Doctoral 2:00 pm Ceremony) Bleachers will be sectioned off for the families of the Doctoral students on the left side of the facility.  A sign will be posted for this area.

·         Reception

The Alumni Office will be giving a Reception immediately following each graduation ceremony at the alumni tent.  Everyone is invited to participate.  This is a great location to have your parents meet you.  Refreshments will be available.

·         Flash Photography will be taking pictures at the ceremony.  They will be taking 1 to 2 shots of you as you cross the stage.  You will be sent an email proof from Flash Photography approximately 1 to 2 weeks following the commencement. At that time it is up to you if you purchase pictures or not.

·         A DVD copy of the graduation ceremony can be purchased from the Alumni Center.  A packet of information will be distributed to you as you leave the ceremony and the order form is in there or you can contact Jane.Martyn at tamuc.edu or 903-886-5792.  The DVD is $20.

·         If you or your guests are not able to attend the ceremony the following link will allow you LIVE Stream Access. The link will read "off the Air" until the start of the ceremony.

·         A sign language interpreter will be available at our ceremonies as well.  She is usually positioned at the right side of the stage when facing the stage.

The closest parking lots are Lots - A, D, K, and J. We will have a shuttle bus rotating between the University Fieldhouse and the parking lots.

Students will need to be at building # 3 (University Field House) no later than 40 minutes prior to their ceremony

Directions to Campus:

From Dallas

Take Interstate 30 east.  Go through Greenville and take exit 101 (Hwy.50) to Commerce (approximately 10 miles).  Go through the first light when you get to Commerce.  

From Denton

Take Hwy. 380 to Greenville.  From the 380 and Hwy. 69 junction, go right on Hwy. 69 to Interstate 30 (approximately 5-6 miles.)  Go over Interstate 30 and take I-30 east to Texarkana.  Take exit 101 (Hwy. 50) to Commerce (about 10 miles) Go through the first light when you get to Commerce.
