Everyone is invited to the Cinco de Mayo Festivities!

 

Taco Tuesday:  Experience great food, and a Mariachi band.  The Menu will include the following: tacos, fajitas, beans, rice, chips, queso, salsa, and tostadas!  For dessert, enjoy Sopapillas with honey!  Purchase your $6 ticket from an SGA member, or pay at the door for regular dine in price.  All proceeds go to STOP Hunger.   Your $6 contribution will help STOP Hunger for 24 individuals in need.   

When: May 1, 6pm to 9pm   

Where: The Dining Room, RSC

The History of Benito Juarez and Cinco de Mayo:  The Texas A&M University-Commerce Colony of Phi Iota Alpha Fraternity, Inc. invites you to a brief presentation on the history of Benito Juarez, and the Cinco de Mayo celebration.  Get ready to learn about the Battle of Puebla as seen on the History Channel.   There will also be raffle for a Barcelona Jersey at the end of the film!  Get your tickets now from any Phiota!

When: May 2, 2pm to 4pm    

Where: RSC, 2nd Floor in Pride Room   

 

Calle Cinco Carnaval: The Hispanic Student Association and The Office of Hispanic Outreach and Student Programs invite you to celebrate Cinco de Mayo with evening of food, live music, and cultural performances.  

When: May 3, 6:30 pm to 9pm

Where: Morris Recreation Center (Pool Area) 

 

REC:  The 2012 Hispanic Film Showcase: Ghosts, Monsters and Zombies with a Spanish Flavor.  The last showcase for this semester will be REC.  In this film, a TV show team catches live a strange commotion in an apartment block in Barcelona. The zombie revolution will be televised. 

Favorably received opera prima by Spanish horror new talents Jaume Balagueró and Paco Plaza. This film will be in Spanish with English subtitles.

Cinco de Mayo Literary Fiesta:  This is a Pre-Bill Martin Jr. Memorial Symposium featuring Alma Flor Ada, and Isabel Campoy.  Featured presenters write children's books and books for teachers who are interested in Latino children's literature in the classroom.  One of Alma Flor Ada's books, Magical Encounters, is often used as a textbook ESL/Bilingual courses. This book is the product of forty years working with classroom teachers to bring the enjoyment of literature to their students.
