Greetings Students!
I hope that your first weeks of classes have been enlightening and
productive. I also hope that in addition to your studies, you have been
exploring the many
extracurricular opportunities available on our campus. If you are an
English major at the undergraduate or the graduate level, I would like
to invite you to apply
for membership in Sigma Tau Delta, the International English Honor
Society. Acceptance to Sigma Tau Delta is a marker of your academic
achievement in the
area of literature and languages. Membership carries a number of
benefits designed to assist you in cultivating your scholarly and
professional interests.
Requirements for membership:
* Candidates for undergraduate membership must have completed a
minimum of two English language or literature courses beyond the
freshman English
requirements and must have a minimum B average in English and in general
scholarship.
* Candidates for graduate membership must be enrolled in a
graduate program in English, or one of its specializations, have
completed six semester hours of
graduate work or the equivalent, and have a minimum grade point average
of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale.
Candidates accepted to Sigma Tau Delta will receive a certificate and a
pin during an induction ceremony in November. The Texas A&M
University-Commerce
Sigma Tau Delta chapter, Upsilon Beta, hosts a number of meetings and
events throughout the year. Here is a partial list of some more of the
benefits of membership:
* Members can compete for several $1000 to $4000 scholarships and
awards

publishing companies
