TAMU-C’s University Playhouse Announces Open Auditions
for:
The Game of Love and Chance
by Pierre Carlet de Chamblain de Marivaux; Translated by
Neil Bartlett; directed by Valerie Hauss-Smith
Show Dates: November 15-19 @ 8 p.m. and Nov. 20 @ 3 p.m.
About the Play…
The play centers on the wealthy Silvia. Her father is
determined
to marry her off and is seeking a suitor, Dorant, the son of
an old friend.
In order to examine Dorant more closely, Silvia decides to
swop roles
and costumes with her maid, Lisette. Silvia’s father
and brother are however aware that
Dorant has decided on exactly the same
ploy, swapping places with his Italian chauffeur,
Arlecchino.
This sets the scene for a play about love, sex and social
class.
