Please note in the e-mail that my daughter, Chandra Crawford from
Sulphur Springs Independent School District forwarded. They
specifically thanked the entire campus of Texas A&M
University-Commerce. It is such an honor to work at a place like Texas
A&M University-Commerce. Thanks, Cathy Haynsworth

Supremely Super Staff, Caring Community, and Sweet Supporters at Large,
The Clorox Power A Bright Future contest officially ended Friday night,
December 9th. Multiple people have asked if I saw the final number. I
was not able to view the last online counts because their system was
frequently overloaded during the final moments of this competition.
The district does not have any way of knowing the text vote count for
the last day either since the web site closed down promptly at 11:00 PM
Central Time before those calculations could be added into the equation.
For now, we are in the waiting phase regarding this matter. The grand
prize and categorical winners will be announced January 12, 2012.
Remain hopeful! Pray for favor during the verification process. Expect
something good! Know that you and we have already won BECAUSE this is a
"Caring Community of Champions!" I truly applaud ALL of your SUSTAINED
EFFORTS and express my sincere thanks and gratitude for your RELENTLESS
DEVOTION in supporting and consistently voting for the Sulphur Springs
3-4 campus playground nomination for more than forty days! Even now,
one word sums it up for me... WOW!!
Whether we win the grand prize or no prize, please realize we hav won
something money can't buy, There's a sense of cohesive unity in the
community for a common good that is exciting. In my opinion you
individually and collectively represent a "Caring Community of
Champions."
You are Iike a twinkle light on a Christmas tree. Each one shines
brightly within its own area. Then when you look at all all the lights
on a gigantic tree, the collective community beauty is absolutely
stunning! This is how I visualize the people of Sulphur Springs,
Hopkins County and its supporters.
We came together and shined brightly as a unit throughout this national
competition. I A. SO PROUD OF YOU! You and others near and far rose to
the occasion. You my friend are the creme of the crop!
Congratulations, the you DEDICATION throughout whole process still
AMAZES me even now.
In thinking about community events and the timeline of how all this took
lace it is rather interesting to me. The nomination was submitted
during the week of revival at First Baptist Church. Then I visited with
Meredith Cadell the week leading up to the stew contest (which I knew
was not good timing) about this "little" competition that would start
the Monday after the Hopkins County Stew Contest. However, she was
gracious as I requested her help since she is a phenomenally great
cheerleader. One thing led to another over the course time and the rest
is almost history.
I do want to publicly commend Meredith for her OUTSTANDING diligence and
dedication to the place I call my hometown. Meredith you are fun to work
with and I appreciate all that you do for Sulphur Springs, Texas. The
word Clorox will forever have a new meaning due to your extraordinary
campaign efforts, you are simply THE BEST! Thanks to the Chamber of
Commerce for providing a float in the Christmas Parade in under 24 hours
once the Clorox Clocked added one more day to align itself with the
official rules.
There is no way I can even begin to provide an exhaustive list of who to
thank. Yet I must give special thanks the local and area media for
SPECTACULAR COVERAGE! You all are a splendid group of guys and gals to
work with. Don and Doug with Channel 18 news, you all put us on radar
then helped grow and sustain the effort. Bruce, at The News Telegram,
the front page news coverage over the course of time gave us huge growth
spurts in voting that could easily be documented. Enola, your lovely
voice on KSST helped remind us what we were to do every day which was
vote, vote, vote and I thank you. Brooke , we appreciate the PSA's you
wrote and recorded at KSST. Bobby, at Front Porch News, your digital
news coverage and promotion was timely and relevant. Your kindness and
humor kept my sanity during the final afternoon of voting, thank you.
Thanks is extended to gang at STAR Country for coverage and reminders to
vote during the critical final hours. The gang at KETR were most
helpful in providing information from Commerce to yet another listening
audience.
Mike Horne and the gang at Latson's Printing were instrumental in
producing multiple flyers that went home with students. These efforts
are certainly appreciated. To everyone who plastered the message "text
Clorox 7805 to 44144," (numbers we will not soon forget) on billboards,
digital signs, hand held posters and bus signs, hats off to you for a
job well done.
For everyone who used social networks and any form of digital media to
campaign for Sulphur Springs, let me jut say this... Y'ALL WERE GREAT!!!
I may never forget Wendi Armstong's Facebook post immediately after the
competition was over that said, "I will be organizing a Clorox Grant
detox group - stay tuned for more information." I totally understthis
statement. Wendi was another one of those tireless workers whose energy
ceased to amaze me.
I bring up this comment to say I am aware that somewhere along the way
this competition became a little addicting for many. You all made the
process fun and I know our children are proud of your efforts on their
behalf.
Local businesses worked like crazy. You guys and gals are MAGNIFICENT!
You all make this a great place to live, work, and shop. Your daily
reminders to employees, clients, and customers here and all throughout
the country was TERRIFIC!
Special thanks to Tommy Panter at SSHS who now has the dubious title of
"Mr. Clorox." Thank you and all the staff throughout the district for
such a unified effort. You all impress me on a daily basis! The entire
Technology Department for Sulphurn Springs ISD deserves a standing
ovation as they helped us navigate through many issues throughout the
voting process. Schools throughout the county were simply marvelous as
were the great people at Mt. Vernon ISD (my birthplace). There were
countless other schools districts that joined in to help.I will gather a
list s best I can before January.
Speaking of schools and now higher education, Paris Junior College at
Sulphur Springs and Texas A and M at Commerce provided huge help with
the voting populous! Your commitment to quality education at all levels
is ADMIRABLE!
I also want to publicly thank Carrol Wheeler and Rudy Gaytan for their
expertise in areas that helped keep me focused. There were several
ladies throughout the community whose personal encourgement meant the
world to me during the process, thank you. I appreciate the Board of
Education and Superintendent Patsy Bolton for their sustained efforts to
provide the best educational experience possible for our students.
If you have made it thus far through this email update, I would like to
close with a prayer of blessing as you focus on the real meaning of this
holiday season. "May the Lord bless you. May the Lord make his face
shine on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord turn his face toward
you and give you peace."
Numbers 6:24-26 ( NIV)
With adoration and utmost respect for you,
Sherry
