Louis Stokes Health Scholars Program Awards of up to $8,000

The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, Inc. (CBCF) will award 10
scholarships to high school seniors or graduates who plan to enroll, or
to students who are already enrolled, in a full-time undergraduate
program at an accredited two- or four-year college, university,
vocational or technical school during the 2011-12 academic year. The
Louis Stokes Health Scholars program seeks to increase the number of
qualified, yet underrepresented, college students entering the health
workforce. Preference will be given to students who demonstrate an
interest to work in underserved communities. Students currently
attending two-year institutions are strongly encouraged to apply.

Criteria:

U.S. citizens or legal U.S. residents who have a minimum 3.0 GPA on a
4.0 scale.
Applicants must also be currently enrolled or planning to enroll in a
full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two- or
four-year college, university, vocational or technical school. The
anticipated degree must be in a subject that will lead to a career in a
health field. The ideal candidate is a student at a two-year
institution who plans to complete a four-year degree and seek work in an
underserved community. Additionally, the candidate will demonstrate
financial need. Employees or immediate family members of UnitedHealth
Group and its affiliates, CBC Members, the CBC Foundation staff, the CBC
Foundation Board of Directors or the CBC Foundation Corporate Advisory
Council are not eligible.

Deadline: April 14, 2011
