Public Tuition Hearings

Commerce, Texas-In accordance with Texas Education Code Section 54.0513,
officials at Texas A&M University-Commerce have scheduled three public
hearings to address a proposed increase in designated tuition for the
2011 academic year.

The three public hearings will take place on

February 2nd, 2:00 p.m. The Pride Room at the Sam
Rayburn Student Center

February 3rd, 9:00 a.m. The Traditions Room at the
Sam Rayburn Student Center

February 3rd, 6:15 p.m. The Metroplex Center in
Mesquite

The range of increase being considered is $0 to $3.71 per semester
credit hour. The actual increase will be dependent upon Texas A&M
System Board of Regents approval.

Designated tuition is a general use fee authorized by the Texas
Education Code that universities use as part of a student's total
tuition costs. Texas A&M University-Commerce's present designated
tuition is $94 per semester credit hour, which ranks below the average
of the designated tuition rates of the 37 public universities in Texas.

The University will seek authority from the Texas A&M University System
Board of Regents at its May meeting to increase designated tuition for
Texas A&M University-Commerce.

A&M-Commerce is not alone in seeking an increase in designated tuition;
most state universities are looking at similar proposals.

All interested are welcome and invited to attend this important hearing.
