[Daniel Kambel]

There will be a public service for former Texas A&M University-Commerce
basketball standout Kevin Widemond on Friday, October 30th, noon, at the
sanctuary of the First United Methodist Church in Commerce.

Widemond died suddenly on Sunday while playing in a basketball game in
Portugal against former teammate Scooby Johnson.

While at Texas A&M University-Commerce, the Newark, New Jersey native
averaged 14.3 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 58 games. As a senior,
in 2007-08, Widemond led the Lions to the championship game of the Lone Star
Conference Tournament and earned All-Tournament team honors. As a junior, in
2006-07, he averaged 14.5 points a game and made a team-best 84.7% of his
free throws while earning second team all-Lone Star Conference North
Division honors.

In lieu of flower contributions, the Lion athletic family asks that
financial contributions be directed to the Kevin Widemond Memorial Fund.
