Texas A&M University-Commerce senior guard Britney Jordan became the Lone Star Conference’s single-season points leader last week and was named the LSC North Division Player of the Week for the fifth time this season for her efforts, league official announced.

Jordan collected 72 points in two games against Central Oklahoma and Northeastern State, and surpassed Teresa Jones-Benson’s (East Central) 836 points to jump to the top of the LSC record books.

She now has 837 points and is averaging 31.0 points per contest this year, which leads the nation.

“I’m happy to be player of the week again,” said Jordan. It’s also cool to hold a record like the most points in a single season. I feel honored and happy to have the support of my teammates and coaching staff.”

After recording 30 points, seven rebounds and five assists against Central Oklahoma on Wednesday, the Peoria, Ill., native poured in 42 at Northeastern State on Saturday and notched the record after sinking a free throw with 1:24 remaining in overtime.

Jordan and the Lions now turn their attention to the LSC Tournament, which begins Wednesday in Bartlesville, Okla. A&M-Commerce opens the tournament with a 6 p.m. matchup against Abilene Christian in the Bruin Field House.

The Lions will be looking to avenge a nine-point loss to Abilene Christian earlier this season. Jordan scored a then-LSC record 53 points on 21-of-39 shooting from the floor in that contest.

All the action can be heard live on KETR (88.9 FM) or online at www.ketr.org.
