Come out and support your Texas A&M University-Commerce women's basketball team against the Texas Woman's Pioneers tomorrow night (Wednesday) at 6 p.m. in the A&M-Commerce Field House.
The matchup features two of the top three scorers in the Lone Star Conference, as Britney Jordan paces the Lions with 30.4 ppg and Renee Renz tops the Pioneers with 22.9 ppg. Jordan currently leads all Division I, II and III scorers with 456 points this season. Renz ranks third in the LSC and 8th in Division II.
Jordan and Renz made history earlier this season after both eclipsed the LSC single-game scoring record. On Jan. 3, Jordan poured in 53 points and connected on 21-of-39 field goal attempts at Abilene Christian, setting new records in all three categories. Two days later, however, Renz scored 63 points on 22 field goals in a quadruple overtime game at Abilene Christian to set new marks in scoring and field goals.
The Lions are 6-1 this season at the A&M-Commerce Field House and are coming off a 94-89 victory over Northeastern State on Saturday, where Jordan scored 47 points to set a new A&M-Commerce Field House scoring record. Just three days earlier at Central Oklahoma, the Peoria, Ill., native netted 21 points to become the Lions' all-time career scoring leader. She currently has 1,652 points.
A&M-Commerce is 9-6 overall and 1-1 in LSC North Division play, while TWU is 10-5 and 1-1.
