Dear Students:
Welcome to the Spring 2009 semester! We are so proud you have chosen to
attend and/or continue your education with us :-)!
Please be aware that effective Fall 2008, the grading procedure for
dropping courses changed. Students dropping courses AFTER the 12th
class day for Spring 2009 and subsequent semesters will receive a Q
rather than a Drop Pass (DP) or a Drop Fail (DF). Prior to Fall 2008, a
DF counted as an F in the gpa.
What does this mean for you? Grades of Q will not calculate into your
GPA, however; they will count toward your attempted hours. For
UNDERGRADUATE students, new legislation limits the number of drops for
your academic career to 6 drops. As a result, the Q will count toward
this rule (along with the 3peat and 45/30 hour rule) however; your gpa
will not be penalized. If you are receiving financial aid, you should
check on the impact of your drop with the Office of Financial Aid &
Scholarships. Dropping courses could have a negative impact on future
eligibility or award amounts.
Information regarding the 3 peat and 45/30 hour rule is located in the
University Catalog at: http://catalog.tamu-commerce.acalog.com/.
For GRADUATE students, it simply means you will not be penalized as you
are not subject to the 6 drop rule. However; if you are receiving
financial aid, please be sure and check with the Office of Financial Aid
& Scholarships as it could impact your eligibility for future aid.
Additional information regarding drops/adds can be found at:
http://www.tamu-commerce.edu/home/registrar/dropadd.asp
The last day to drop a course with a full refund and no grade is
February 4. The last day to drop a course for the semester (no refund)
is March 27.
Students wishing to drop all of their courses for the semester should
complete a withdraw form:
http://www.tamu-commerce.edu/home/registrar/withdrawl.asp
If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact the
Office of the Registrar at 903-886-5071 or 903-886-5068.
Thank you and we wish you the BEST of SUCCESS this semester!
